Starwood Partner with Uber
Starwood Hotels and Resorts are now allowing guests to earn loyalty points every time they hire a taxi through the private, app-based transport network, Uber. To do so, guests need to have both an Uber account and an account for Starwood’s loyalty programme, Starwood's Preferred Guest (SPG). Registration can be done through each of the companies’ websites. Users must then link these accounts on Starwood’s loyalty website and will have to complete one qualifying stay in the calendar year at any one of Starwood’s global hotels to begin earning points.
Points earned on a day-to-day basis are the same for each of the three tiers in the SPG Scheme – Preferred, Gold & Platinum and Platinum 75+. Each member accrues one point for every dollar spent with Uber. Points earned while staying at a Starwood Hotel however, vary depending on the tier. Those on the Preferred tier earn two points for every $1 spent with Uber, while Platinum 75+ members earn four.
The innovative partnership makes it much easier for Starwood guests to earn points on a daily basis without any inconvenience by combining revolutionary travel and technology with their high-touch service. Additionally, Starwood properties feature in the majority of the 290+ cities in which Uber operates, making this a potentially successful partnership.
